Post your name, along with what character(s) you play.
If you want, specify particular areas you would like feedback on! (It's okay to ask for just general feedback!)
Indicate whether or not you're okay with anonymous feedback. (It's totally cool if you don't.) You can also post links to your character's personal HMD if you'd prefer comments there.
Reply to other people telling them how you think they are doing.
Be polite and objective! If someone says they're cool with anonymous crit, that is not an invitation to be unfriendly. No one likes a Diamond Tiara! If you have something negative to say about somebody else's playing, make your points politely and suggest ways to improve. To give an example:
X - Unhelpful Diamond Tiara - "Jeez, Terri, can you learn to type? You've got about a billion typos in your posts!"
O - Helpful Not Diamond Tiara - "Hi, Terri, I noticed you have a number of typos in your posts. Something you might want to do is give your posts that one last look-over before hitting submit. It would really help with readability!"
?????
PROFIT
You don't have to post your own characters to give other people feedback! You don't have to post your characters at all if you don't want to. It is 100% OPTIONAL. If you do post, we would encourage you to give feedback to at least one other person!
I don't know if it's just me, but I have a really hard time following plots here. I like the scope and effort that gets put into them all, but for some reason I always miss a lot of details, and because of that I end up getting lost and not able to contribute to them in any meaningful way. More often than not, I only find out about big twists in events after I see others talking about it on Plurk, and by that point it's too late to go back and do anything with it, as all the threads are now past that point. The basic flow I can get, but all the whys and hows I can't find anywhere, and the plot recap doesn't too much to answer my questions.
Are these things just in the subtext that I'm completely missing? For instance, in this plot, why was Celestia in the mirror in the first place? If that was explained somewhere, where? Are we just supposed to figure it out?
I'm going to second this is sometimes it can be tricky to keep up with plots. The Griffon plot went by so fast that I ended up having to miss out on the event and ignore it it's also why I haven't finished the NPC section in the characters section of the TV Tropes page.
on a similar note, can I request that we get announcements for updates in plot posts--the final battle thread, stuff like that--in the OOC comm as well as just on plurk? Some of us aren't so good with following plurk and I hate feeling like I'm missing out cause I can't keep up with social media.
Definitely! We can do updates in plot posts as well as plurk. We don't want anyone to be left out of developments in modplots, so we will do this for future modplots.
As for the reasons Celestia was in the mirror, that will definitely be addressed. No one's missed anything on that.
Just to reply directly: These are questions that have not yet been answered, but will be as this week and this portion of the plot progress.
Balancing how much information we give out, letting characters contribute, and moving a plot to its conclusion in a timely manner are tough things. If you do have any thoughts on how to balance this more effectively, we're always happy to listen. We have been trying to figure out a way to forcibly slow plots down without having them stagnate to allow a larger group of players to get involved with things. See: the final log in the Griffon plots with the split groups.
Is it helpful to split up groups like this, do you think? Does it make it more difficult to keep track of things going on in other groups?
The other concern we're constantly battling with is how to maintain a schedule since we don't want to have events overshadow the other aspects of the game, but we do want to let folks have the time to play them out. Would something like a daily OOC update when plots are going on maybe help with this?
