+ 1 Angel of the Lord

SUP MAH PONES, it's Bliss here with a promise to post more with Joshua a brand new character from a tabletop game. Unlike my last tabletop game character, this one is canonical to his setting - one of the Archangels from Steve Jackson's game In Nomine, about a celestial cold war between heaven and hell.

This is Laurence, the Archangel of the Sword. He literally invented knighthood in shining armor in his setting, being the celestial manifestation of honorable and disciplined combat in warfare.

He also really needs a hug.

Two minor permission notes:

1: His setting coincides with the Real World except where otherwise noted, and one of his major enemies is the Demon Prince of the Media. Basically what I'm saying is PM me or post here to opt in to minor canon puncture, especially if your canon has religious themes and is thereby controversial ALEPH.

2: HE CAN SEE INTO YOUR SOUL. No, seriously; he has the ability to weigh you, and measure you, and know you by what you consider your most and least honorable moments. Any time he would use this power, I'll mention it in thread. If you have mental defenses or just want him to fail his Perception check, let me know when I do!

Hallo! It might interest you to know that Hayate here, as a Celestrian, is physically incapable of disobeying a senior angel. Seriously, it's a plot point in-game that if a senior angel tells her to, she will stand there and allow herself to be beaten unconscious.

So I guess what I am trying to say is YES, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR CR.

So...uh...I have here a powerful devil who holds no ill will toward heaven, isn't the least bit evil and actually seems to revere God to a degree. And could somehow stand in a church without ill effects, though there are a couple reasons I can think of why it might not have counted as properly holy.

He's also going through a bit of a confusing period in his life as he tries to get into the habit of judging himself by his own standards of right and wrong rather than the underworld's, so how would that power work for someone who isn't sure what he considers his most and least honorable moments?

As for canon puncture, he's from Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe, though he's only a sword in the former and is the only major religious reference in the latter. Still, feel free to bring up that he's fictional. He won't be at all surprised, though, since his fourth wall is incredibly flimsy. Or feel free to recognize his name, Alastor, as a reference to Greek mythology, commonly associated with his power set as another name for Zeus.

I also have a disillusioned priest from Xenosaga, which is absolutely loaded with religious references. He...might not be too comfortable dealing with an angel strike>even though he gained a Persona that manifests as one, since he was utterly and completely betrayed by his religion :D But he's been through enough by now that being fourth walled wouldn't exactly shatter his world.

Oh yeah! Since Alastor is a devil and has all kinds of supernatural senses, I'm assuming he'd be able to recognize 'oh hey, this guy reeks of holy'?

Demons in DMC show some ability to sense supernatural power, and Alastor himself is a telepath/empath. There's actually a permissions post in his journal for that, along with his own canon puncture potential XD Though I think Laurence is safe from that, since Alastor lives in movies and that's where most of his knowledge is.
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

It should be. He's actually Good aligned and trying to shake off the influence of his life in the demon world to be comfortable doing what he thinks is right. Though actually, after his latest post, he might be a bit less confused, since it helped him understand himself a bit better.

Angels aren't real.

I mean hi Erika Lawrence-mun I play Cecil

And Cecil's canon has...minor religious motifs? There's the angels, the smiling god that Strex wants people to believe in, the Man in the Tan Jacket, and most recently the Woman from Italy, but there's all sorts of other supernatural shit goin' on too.
nvcr: (Did you hear that? A DATE!)

Wait really? Cool. Is it like any independently published stuff (as podcasts often are) aren't from Media or something?

Also, do you mind if he goes around calling Lawrence Erika should he find out he's an angel?

I wouldn't say religious themes are a major part of Doctor Who, but he'd hardly be the first character to canon puncture Handrew. As for point 2, Andrew does have some telepathic defenses, but could fail his Will save if need be. Let me know if you want details on his best and worst moments.

Totally up for canon puncture, as long as he doesn't tell her she doesn't exist. It's a MAJOR plot point that the Laguz Alliance under General Ike (the Hero of the Tellius Fire Emblem games) defeats the reigning goddess, Ashera, and put Yune, her chaotic counterpart, in her place. So yeah religious overtones!

Short version: Ashera and Yune were once one being, Ashunera. Ashunera got pissed when people started fighting, so she flooded the world when her emotions spun out of control. In her grief, she split into Ashera, the embodiment of order, stability, and law, and Yune, chaos and emotion, and sealed Yune away, going into slumber until Yune was reawakened.
Unfortunately, they were awakened during war, so Ashera decided she was going to judge the entire continent, and turn everyone to stone. Only a select remnant with very high strength of will/spirit remained untouched, and Nephenee was one of them. They then went to the Tower of Guidance, and kicked Ashera's butt, Ike striking the finishing blow.

As far as Neph knows, Yune is in charge, though it is possibly they merged back into Ashunera. She's fairly spiritual and religious, doing prayers for the souls of the lost, but she also might be a bit unsure about that whole thing cause, ya know, defeating a goddess...for the time being, she still follows the ways she was taught, replacing Yune with Ashera as needed. I don't know if that will continue or flux, though. I know there are angels and demons mentioned in canon, though whether they function the same is unclear. They do follow the idea of good/evil, though. She also believes in heaven and, thanks to Bertie, St. Peter at the gates. So she would find the Catholic stuff fascinating, I think.

I'll have to think of the points she finds her highest and lowest. Because of her high Will/Spirit, she might have some defenses (and if magic resistance counts, that too), but I'm unsure atm.
