If you think Alastor would be able to do that, by all means! Canonically, Laurence (and most angels and demons) have no special ability to detect demons other than by tracking the messes they make, but 'using supernatural abilities and artifacts' counts as 'making a mess' in this case and a FLAMING SWORD is a big hint.
