Harvest Planning/Info post!
Sup, everyone? Dassa here, along with your resident dorky farmer/soldier pony Nephenee, and this is a Information Post for an upcoming event.
It's mid-fall now, the leaves have turned their fiery colors, and the crops are ripening. In fact, they're just about ready for picking! Back home, when it was time for Harvest, Nephenee's village would often have a party to celebrate this, and this is where everyone comes in! The Commune's fields and trees need harvesting!
This will be a joint Harvesting/Planting and Party event. What this means is while there will be threads for harvesting crops and canning and barreling grape juice (yes folks, we're fermentin' stuff) and what have you, there will also be a celebration during, and a feast at the end. Think of the 'tale' of American Thanksgiving of everyone coming together to get the job done and then stuffing their faces at the end in celebration. We will not be arguing about the veracity or non-veracity of this. It's the idea that counts.
And now, for some sample Q & A:
> So when is this occurring and how long is it?
Due to the upcoming events, I posed this question to you folks in Plurk. The general consensus was that it be this week, before Discord decides to break stuff Saturday. So the Main Log will happen ICly Wednesday, the 20th and the feast will happen Friday. The Log will go up tomorrow, heaven willing. That way there is plenty of time for folks to hit things and for fun times before Discord times happen and crap goes down.
> Don't you usually have busy Fridays though?
Yes, so the Feast Log will go up either late Thursday or Friday evening. My plan is for Thursday eve so everyone has time to do stuff.
> *GASP* DID SOMEONE SAY PARTY?!
Hi Pinkie(s)! I did indeed! The main log will have a thing for general merrymaking, but for this, we shall require some assistance. In the comments section below I'll put a thing down for party planning. Just let me know there if your pony/ponies would like to help with that. We'll need general planning, Decorations, and snacks! And also we'll have a general song thread. After all, this is Ponyville, we need songs to get things done quickly! But feel free to put songs in other threads too to speed up work! There will even be a bonfire if folks want.

Not specifically a sign-up, per se, but I would appreciate folks letting me know if they want to help with Decorating and such.

Heck yes! This is open to all! Even freeloaders just there for the food. There will be plenty to help with. Want to help harvest? Go for it, plenty to go around! Not good with physical labor? We could use help in the Pickling/Canning/general preserving area. Want to get a head start on planting for the winter crops? Have at! Love your wine/grape juice? We have vines for that, so you can squish grapes and barrel it! Please be sure to wash up before and after and do not wear good clothes for it, they will be ruined.

Yes! That will mostly be a giant get together log, and, like the harvest in general, is Open to all! No one turned away, even if you went 'ew work'! Ponies will be free to bring food and whatnot, but much will be from the harvest itself. Don't worry, there's plenty!
> Can there be shenanigans?
Always! Just run it by me and I can stick up a thread for it if you wish! Or you can do so! Just no burning down the place! LOOKING AT YOUBERTIE BERTIE
