How's My Driving Meme!

HOW'S MY DRIVING?

Hello, Equestrians! Its time for a game-wide HMD!

Here's how it works:

  1. Post your name, along with what character(s) you play.
  2. If you want, specify particular areas you would like feedback on! (It's okay to ask for just general feedback!)
  3. Indicate whether or not you're okay with anonymous feedback. (It's totally cool if you don't.) You can also post links to your character's personal HMD if you'd prefer comments there.
  4. Reply to other people telling them how you think they are doing.
  5. Be polite and objective! If someone says they're cool with anonymous crit, that is not an invitation to be unfriendly. No one likes a Diamond Tiara!
If you have something negative to say about somebody else's playing, make your points politely and suggest ways to improve. To give an example:
    • X - Unhelpful Diamond Tiara - "Jeez, Terri, can you learn to type? You've got about a billion typos in your posts!"
    • O - Helpful Not Diamond Tiara - "Hi, Terri, I noticed you have a number of typos in your posts. Something you might want to do is give your posts that one last look-over before hitting submit. It would really help with readability!"
  6. ?????
  7. PROFIT

You don't have to post your own characters to give other people feedback! You don't have to post your characters at all if you don't want to. It is 100% OPTIONAL. If you do post, we would encourage you to give feedback to at least one other person!

Flattery is welcome just as much as concrit!

+1

I think it'd be helpful to have brief explanations behind these characters' super strong powers and abilities in fight threads.

I honestly have wondered for a long time if Zetta was actually played with the game's power cap at all. He certainly never complained about missing any abilities until they were all cut away in one of the mod plots so I couldn't see any signs. I know he's god-like and logically you can't divide an immeasurable amount of power in half but perhaps a limit could be chosen for the sake of the game?

What would the best way to give that explanation? I think part of the problem is that Disgaea is a patently ridiculous series with patently ridiculous power caps that are pretty much irreconcilable with any logic or sense, which I try to keep to the spirit of by both being ludicrously over-the-top and at the same time nowhere near as effective as the actual appearance of the attacks would warrant. He's been thoroughly ineffective against major foes like Tirek and Calice, despite the amount of damage his attacks 'should' have been doling out.

I see that cap when going against Tirek and Calice now that you point it out. Would any of the other player characters be able to go head to head with him for a while? Now that Zetta is playing nicer with others I doubt it will come up but in earlier plots when he presented himself as an evil overlord I imagine some of the heroic characters would have possibly taken action against him. Getting to the point, I'm curious if you capped Zetta when dealing with player characters at all or if was only for NPC enemy battles.

That is exactly the sort of question I go out of my way to specifically avoid answering in any ICly fashion, actually, because it's lose-lose. If the answer is 'no, no one can fight him', then even with canon support for his strength being exceptional at 50% I can justifiably be accused of playing an unfairly invincible and unbeatable character. If the answer is 'yes, he can be beaten' then he abruptly loses any credibility as the villain he attempted to portray himself as, because people can just go, "aaah, he can just be beaten again".

One of the biggest challenges of playing Zetta is walking that fine line between "too powerful" and "not powerful enough", where his obvious strength and desire for evil are balanced out by his general idiocy, susceptibility to comedy, and actually not being a terrible guy. If a real fight with a power player or group thereof ever came down the pike, I would have done my best to work out the scene such that everyone was satisfied with the result.

If you just condensed the characters into a pile of stats and abilities and took out all concerns of plot and story and player interest, though? Yeah, he could have found himself in some really rough fights, even one on one.
