Post your name, along with what character(s) you play.
If you want, specify particular areas you would like feedback on! (It's okay to ask for just general feedback!)
Indicate whether or not you're okay with anonymous feedback. (It's totally cool if you don't.) You can also post links to your character's personal HMD if you'd prefer comments there.
Reply to other people telling them how you think they are doing.
Be polite and objective! If someone says they're cool with anonymous crit, that is not an invitation to be unfriendly. No one likes a Diamond Tiara! If you have something negative to say about somebody else's playing, make your points politely and suggest ways to improve. To give an example:
X - Unhelpful Diamond Tiara - "Jeez, Terri, can you learn to type? You've got about a billion typos in your posts!"
O - Helpful Not Diamond Tiara - "Hi, Terri, I noticed you have a number of typos in your posts. Something you might want to do is give your posts that one last look-over before hitting submit. It would really help with readability!"
?????
PROFIT
You don't have to post your own characters to give other people feedback! You don't have to post your characters at all if you don't want to. It is 100% OPTIONAL. If you do post, we would encourage you to give feedback to at least one other person!
The one that jumps to mind most readily are the Nightmare Night plot a long time ago when Rainbow Dash was the one who defeated Twilight's Nightmare Moon. I don't know if that was planning more or your part, Twilight-mun's part or the mods, but it just felt like there wasn't much chance for alternate solutions to what went down on something that big. It didn't feel like there was a lot of communication there, either, though that might be less on you and more on others.
The other one was the whole lead-up to the Nemesis/Antithesis plot. There was a lot of secrecy surrounding that on an OOC level that didn't and still doesn't sit well with me.
The basic idea behind Nightmare Night was planned practically at the opening of the game between me and Riki, and (if you'll forgive a year and a half's worthy of intervening time, this is how it happened to the best of my memory) it fit so well with what the mods had planned anyway that the two ended up integrated. It really was intended to be a moment for Rainbow Dash to shine, but the mods added in the whole fight for everyone else to participate and influence the outcome. I can understand why that would have seemed exclusive, though; I think that was an awkward situation that ended up being a misstep.
As for Nemesis/Antithesis, I take all of that on myself. I 100% believe the plotline would not have been anywhere near as interesting or effective if everyone had known the outcome from the start. I definitely don't mean to suggest there would have been any conscious and intentional infomodding, but I think it would have been easier for people to downplay all the negative aspects of the plan and focus on all the things built into the plot to prevent it from being as bad as a legitimate takeover attempt would have been. And at the end of the day, I really feel that the OOC element of surprise made the plotline work.
That's entirely my opinion and I respect that people may disagree on it.
On that note, though, you can see that the reveal of the Tirek plotline was spoiled in the OOC post for the plot. I'll admit I was against that, but I don't think it did the event any serious harm since people knew it was an alicorn plot ahead of time.
I appreciate your taking the time to explain what happened with the Nightmare Night plot. I know there's also been some concern around mod favoritism with regard to you, but if they're the ones who suggested things, that's not really on you.
I think we'll just have to respectfully disagree on the Nemesis/Antithesis plot. I'm all for keeping some excitement, but I think it could have been done without that and still have had the effect you were looking for ICly without any of the OOC backlash.
I did see that they did the reveal of the Tirek and alicorn plot line in the OOC post and that's part of what made me more comfortable with this and why I said I thought it went pretty well. The addition of the trip to Tartarus and the NPC interaction for those who participated in that is also a nice touch to make it feel like there's something that people could get involved in with some kind of metaplot information that wouldn't have been available otherwise. I don't know if you had a hand in that, at all, but I'm satisfied with how you handled things for the recent plot.
I'm glad you mentioned mod favoritism, because I want to make a point on that very clear: I get a lot of plot time and stuff because I ask the mods. I toss them suggestions I'd like to do, and if they find it interesting, it happens. My suggestions tend to be fairly large-scale because Zetta, in particular, is, well, Zetta; thus they turn into pretty significant plots, involving NPCs and machinations on a large scale.
They've told me 'no' when they thought it was necessary and made changes where they thought things would work better, so I'm definitely not running free with their rubberstamp approval. I just make a point of communicating with them and offering ideas and suggestions. That isn't unique to this game either.
With regards to Tartarus and NPC interaction, that was all them; they had the idea for Tirek quite some time ago, and just integrated my ideas for Zetta's ascension into it as a good fit.
I'm happy you're mentioning how these plots came to be. I don't think that many members have realized that they're allowed to suggest plots that are on such a big scale. I'm only just hearing of this now.
I'm glad for a chance to clear the air. Honestly, in all my time in DWRP, I have never found a mod team to be unwelcome to plot ideas and large-scale shenanigans if the players are willing to work with them. Maybe I've been just lucky, but asking and discussing with them have always produced dividends for me.
