I think part of the problem is that Disgaea is a patently ridiculous series with patently ridiculous power caps that are pretty much irreconcilable with any logic or sense, which I try to keep to the spirit of by both being ludicrously over-the-top and at the same time nowhere near as effective as the actual appearance of the attacks would warrant. He's been thoroughly ineffective against major foes like Tirek and Calice, despite the amount of damage his attacks 'should' have been doling out.
