Lights... Camera... Action!
Grab your popcorn and pull up a seat, because it's time for the First Annual Equestrian Film Festival!

York, being the major film buff that he is, has somehow managed to corral enough ponies together for a Film Festival! With the help of some projectors, a few screens, and Alastor's gracious donation of film reels, he's turning the fields outside of Ponyville into a staging ground for films to be shown, starting November 16 and lasting until November 23! This will most likely be represented by in-character Livestreams of various movies, which can be hosted by anybody that wants to screen whatever movie. If you want to treat a fic as a script, then in-character riffing is also allowed! Not only will this be a good chance to showcase the best that Equestrian cinema has to offer, but it'll also be a chance to show off independent films!
That's right, along with the Film Festival comes a Film Festival Contest! A judging committee has been created (with York on the panel, of course), and they're accepting submissions from anybody for public screening (and riffing, depending on the film quality), as well as fabulous prizes and bragging rights! The official rules state that a submitted movie must be at least 5 minutes in length (however you want to justify it, or at least a page in a text document. An RP log of characters filming will also be acceptable.), and submitted before Saturday, November 22nd, as that's when the Independent Film Screening will take place (in a log). Submissions will be taken to either my plurk (
kaosblaze in a private plurk), my email account (kaosblaze@gmail.com), or as a comment to this post (see below). If you'd like your movie to be riffable, let me know ahead of time and please make it a private Google Document!
The prizes will be shiny golden trophies in the following categories: Best In Show, Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Experimental, Pony's Choice (as determined by online poll), Golden Olive (Judge's Choice), and The Dogbone (Most Riffable). There will be an award ceremony on Sunday the 23rd for all of the winners to receive their prizes and give an acceptance speech that will most assuredly be cut off way before they get to thank their parents.
Questions, movie suggestions, and submissions will be in the comments to this post. Feel free to make your own top-level comments for planning shenanigans!
See you in the movies, Equestria!
