Legendary Blacksmith OOC Info
So while most people know, I want to lay it out for anyone else who isn't in the know.
The Legendary Blacksmith is a questline based on the quest chain A Relic Reborn from Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. Put simply, with the closure of the Canterlot Archives and the subsequent cross-canon power limitations, a group of us (Dassa, Scott, myself, Elly and others) came up with the idea of creating a NPC called Gerolt, a dragon who was known as the best crafter in the world. The things he could do with metal, stone, wood, cloth, anything was legendary.
And then he faded into obscurity, hiding away on the Imagination Train, a magic mobile seclusion to bother his sorrows in hard cider.
This is where everypony comes in.
To win his trust, over the course of the next few months, Fetch Quests will be available, from Escorts to Delivery to "Defeat X" quests to make your way into a shiny personalized item, be it a necklace, a weapon, a suit of armor or simply a really nice shirt. Mind you the most powerful items are made for Nephenee, Minato, Flash and Jou Shan but you are able to commission work from Gerolt's Masterworks for expensive jewelry, decorative shirts, and even statues and house stuff. As a note, this isn't meant to replace the Canterlot Archives at all, but to provide an avenue of gaining items to furnish your own appearance.
For those who are in it for the long run, Gerolt will be calling out people who are commissioning his work over the course of the next couple of months until they have developed their final items for them. Sword and Shield, Lance, Polearm, Staff, the whole nine yards. Mind you, investment of time in both the game and the questline is required to earn his trust, and while handwaving is okay, it's really for the sake of more CR since Friendship is going to be imbued into these weapons and armor pieces for the sake of your own personal customization.
Later on, provided my newest character is available, your old items, like books and staffs and trinkets you don't need but held onto for a long time, will be available for Materia Assimilation. Materia Assimilation is a process in which the item is reduced to a crystallized format, and can be imbued into Gerolts creations for more advanced properties. The catch, however is that only your OWN items can be turned into materia and reused. This is to prevent cross-canon power ups from happening since this is your own powers and experiences in materia form. At most it is a minor boost, but cumulatively, you can attach up to 5 materia onto your clothing or items at once.
In regards to materia count mind you, 1 materia for combat falls under the usual 1 cross canon rule. Normal materia such as +gathering, or +cleaning or +cooking made from household items are unlimited as long as you do not use them for combat, and simply cooking or cleaning or mundane things.
That being said, the actual thread for part 1 of the Search for Gerolt will be available in another day or so.
